The best way to extend the lifetime of your truck is to provide it with regular maintenance! Continued down below, we'll break down all the various services your truck might need, and fill you in on how to find those services here at Flagler CDJR!

What's The Best Schedule For Your Ram?

There are many different services available to help you care for your Ram 1500 pickup truck. However, your truck will require different services at different points in time, as it gets more and more use. One of the best ways to keep track of which services your truck needs at which time is to follow a maintenance schedule. This schedule, which we'll describe below, is broken down by mileage. That means you don't even have to keep track of any specific dates, but rather just keep an eye on your odometer to see how many miles are on your truck! By taking care of your Ram on a regular basis, you'll be able to keep it running in excellent condition for years to come!

Ram 1500 Maintenance Schedule

8,000 Miles
As we mentioned above, this schedule is measured in miles rather than months or years, as everyone accrues mileage at their own unique pace. However, you can estimate that you'll reach your first 8,000 miles in about 6 months of owning your Ram 1500! Once you reach this first benchmark, it's time for your first appointment. Get your routine services that will become the foundation for the rest of your schedule! These include an oil and oil filter change, and a tire rotation. These simple services are one of the most effective ways of caring for your truck, and they're also the services you'll find yourself repeating the most often!

20,000 Miles
At 20,000 miles, you will have more than doubled the mileage since your last checkup! At this point, you can go ahead and repeat the services of your 8,000-mile visit, and your mechanic will be checking on some other elements as well. This includes inspecting your brake linings, as well as your suspension. If anything seems off, then a wheel alignment or wheel balance will likely do the trick! Your truck will still be relatively new at this point, but your mechanic will be able to spot any potential problems so that you can fix them early before they become a real issue!

30,000 Miles
The next benchmark we'll be discussing is the 30,000-mile point. As you've probably already guessed, this means it's time for another oil and oil filter change, as well as another tire rotation! The frequent oil changes will ensure that your engine stays in great shape, and that your truck continues to run at its peak efficiency. Similarly, a tire rotation is an easy way to protect your tires, as it allows all of them to get an even amount of wear. Some new services for the 30,000-mile appointment include inspecting your Ram 1500's transfer case, and changing the transfer case fluid if needed. They'll also inspect your CV/Universal joints, which help your truck utilize its torque. Lastly, they'll also inspect your axles, and make adjustments as needed.

60,000 Miles
The next benchmark we're jumping to is the 60,000-mile point, but remember that your oil changes and tire rotations should be done roughly every 5,000-7,500 miles, so be sure to get that done in the interim. However, once your Ram 1500 reaches 60,000 miles, your mechanic will actually go back and repeat the services of your 30,000-mile checkup. This makes sense, as another 30,000 miles have added up since your appointment. Again, your mechanic will check on your transfer case and fluid, transmission fluid, engine coolant, and other essential fluids. They'll check your suspension, and perform a wheel alignment or balance as needed.

100,000+ Miles
By this point, you'll most likely be very comfortable with your truck's maintenance schedule, and you'll have gotten yourself in the habit of bringing it in for service at regular intervals. At this point, we also suggest that you have your mechanic inspect or replace your spark plugs. You should also have your battery inspected, as well as your transmission. If you haven't already, you may also want to think about getting a new set of tires, especially if you spend a lot of time on off-road terrain! By keeping up with all of these various services, you can expect your truck to last well beyond the 100,000-mile mark!
