Jeep Creates Wrangler 4xe Charging Network

To celebrate its new innovations and signature Jeep heritage, the first locations of this new network of charging stations will be three beloved trailheads. The first is the Rubicon Trail in Pollock Pines, California which shares its name with the ever-capable Wrangler Rubicon. The second is in Big Bear, California, and the last trailhead is Moab, Utah. All three trailheads carry the Jeep Badge of Honor, making them a natural fit for Jeep drivers who want to extend their journey in a new Wrangler 4xe. These three sites are the first of many at which Jeep hopes to install charging stations by the end of 2021, so be sure to keep an eye out for more locations to follow!

These new stations will be situated right at the trailhead, where you can recharge your 4xe's 17 kilowatt-hour battery pack, and maximize your electric driving range. The charging stations will either be connected directly to a power grid, or even use solar panels to stay up and running, providing Level 2, or 240-volt, charging power. Charging the battery from start to finish takes just about two hours, but top-ups can be quick and easy, especially with the convenient proximity of these stations to the trail. 

Electrify America is the country's largest open charging network, and over the years they've shown they're committed to a greener future. A current initiative of theirs is to invest 2 billion dollars into Zero Emission Vehicles over the next 10 years. Specifically, this means funding education about Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs), as well as making them more accessible, which is what this new project with Jeep is all about. Explained by Electrify America's CEO Giovanni Palazzo, "It is our goal to provide electric vehicle drivers with the freedom to get to where they want to go - whether it be on a highway or off-road - and we look forward to bringing Jeep enthusiasts along on the journey." 

Aside from the joy of exploring the great outdoors, this new charging station project offers special rewards and incentives for Jeep drivers. The trailheads selected for charging stations all coincide with the Jeep Badge of Honor program, which is an online community of Jeep explorers that you can access right from your phone. The Badge of Honor app tracks your progress by allowing you to check off your completed trails. When you've completed the full set, Jeep provides you with specialized badges for your vehicle!
