Details of the 2022 Dodge Challenger

The 2022 Dodge Challenger comes with five different engine options depending on trim level. The first engine is under the hood of the SXT and GT rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive models. It is the award-winning 3.6L V6 Pentastar engine that pushes out an impressive 303 horsepower, a solid starting point for the powertrain lineup. Next, is Dodge's legendary 5.7L V8 engine kicking out up to 375 horsepower under the hood of the R/T trim level. In the Scat Pack and Scat Pack Widebody models, you'll find a naturally-aspirated 392 HEMI V8 engine with 485 horsepower. Most carmakers would call that enough, but not Dodge! The SRT Hellcat model comes with a supercharged 6.2L V8 engine that kicks out 717 horsepower. The SRT Hellcat Redeye takes it to a new level with a high-output supercharged 6.2L V8 for 797 horsepower. Finally, the Super Stock comes with a uniquely tuned high-output V8 engine with a heart-pounding 807 horsepower! A TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic is standard with the SXT and GT rear and all-wheel-drive models as well as the SRT Hellcat Redeye and Super Stock. The R/T, Scat Pack, and SRT Hellcat all come with a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission, while the 8-speed automatic is available. Lastly, rear-wheel drive is the standard setup, while all-wheel drive is available to the SXT and GT trims.

While the 2022 Challenger engine lineup is extensive, the trim level lineup is even more so. The 2022 Dodge Challenger trim levels are SXT, GT, R/T, R/T Scat Pack, SRT Hellcat, SRT Hellcat Redeye, and Super Stock. The Scat Pack and Hellcat are available in widebody styles, adding an extra 3.5 inches to the total width. A fantastic new feature for 2022 is the deluxe security alarm that is standard on the R/T Scat Pack, SRT Hellcat, SRT Hellcat Redeye, and SRT Super Stock. This alarm system is also available with the Driver Convenience Package for the SXT, GT, and R/T.

The Challenger has a history of being one of the highest-performing vehicles on the market. Starting with the R/T Scat Pack 1320 and its naturally aspirated V8 engine, this model is built with drag racers in mind. While remaining street legal, the 485 Scat Pack gets its name from the quarter-mile drag strip length, 1,320 feet, and offers a blank canvas for drag racers. All V8 models of the 2022 Challenger come with Active Exhaust, and the 5.7L V8 comes with a 2.75-inch electronically controlled active exhaust system, providing drivers with that satisfying V8 growl. The Scat Pack Widebody, SRT Hellcat, SRT Hellcat Redeye, and Super Stock all come with six-piston Brembo high-performance brakes. The SRT Drive Modes on the R/T Scat Pack and Hellcat models give drivers control over the experience by altering transmission shift points, traction, suspension, paddle shifters (on automatic variants), and controlling horsepower output (Hellcat models). The drive modes are Default, Sport, Track, and Custom. The SRT Hellcat, Hellcat Redeye, and Super Stock are all eligible for the Rear Seat Delete group, which removes the rear seats and seatbelts and adds a cargo net for weight reduction. The Plus Package is available to all trim levels offering premium features like memory settings for the driver's seat, side mirrors, steering column, and radio, a power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, heated/ventilated front seats, and leather upholstery.
