2021 Jeep Renegade vs Chevrolet Trax

Shopping for a new compact SUV is really exciting! But that excitement can start to dwindle when you realize just how many options are out there. The class has gotten very competitive in recent years, making it hard to decide on just one. At Flagler Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we want to make this decision easier for you. That's why we've taken two crossovers that stand out in the class. The 2021 Jeep Renegade shines brightly with its available four-wheel-drive capability and an extensive list of standard and optional features. The Chevrolet Trax holds its own with some desirable standard features that seem to plateau across the entire trim lineup. To make choosing between the two even easier, we've taken both vehicles and put their best features on display side by side for you to see for yourself! Continue reading to learn more!

2021 Jeep Renegade Power & Handling

Two engines are available for the 2021 Jeep Renegade. Under the hood of the Sport and Latitude trims is a 2.4L I4 that cranks out 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. Available for the Latitude trim while standard on the Trailhawk and Limited is a 1.3L turbocharged I4 that kicks out 175 horsepower and an impressive 210 lb-ft of torque. Both Renegade engines pair nicely with a smooth-shifting 9-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard across the lineup, while 4WD is available to all trims but standard on the adventurous Renegade Trailhawk. All 4WD variants come with Jeep's Selec-Terrain Traction Management System to provide optimal traction on a variety of road surfaces. In addition to standard 4WD, the Trailhawk trim comes standard with Rock Mode added to the Selec-Terrain dial.

2021 Chevy Trax Power & Handling

Only one engine is available for the 2021 Chevy Trax. It is a 1.4L turbocharged I4 that is rated for a lackluster 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. The Trax employs a 6-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on the Trax, while all-wheel drive is optional, just like the Renegade. However, unlike its Jeep counterpart, neither of the Trax trim levels come with AWD standard.

2021 Jeep Renegade Features & Design

Four trim levels are available for the 2021 Jeep Renegade, each bringing an impressive lineup of features. The Sport trim kicks things off with the iconic round headlights and seven-slot grille, 16-inch steel wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry/push-button start, a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, a 60-40 folding rear seat, and ProTech I driver assists. ProTech I includes blindspot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, a rearview camera, and lane departure warning with lane-keep assist. The Latitude trim levels up with cornering LED fog lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, and ambient LED interior lighting. The Trailhawk is meticulously crafted to take you anywhere with an off-road-tuned suspension, skid plates, a turbocharged engine, red tow hooks, standard 4WD, Selec-Terrain with Rock mode, and all-terrain tires on 17-inch alloy wheels. The Trailhawk also keeps you comfortable with an 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, leather-trimmed seats, and an available dual-pane panoramic moonroof.

2021 Chevy Trax Features & Design

To compete with the four Renegade trims, the 2021 Chevy Trax only has two. The LS trim starts off the lineup with a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, smartphone integration, single-zone manual climate control, a 60/40 folding rear seat, and a flat-folding front seat. The LT trim adds a bit more like cruise control, keyless entry, push-button start, tinted rear windows, and LED exterior lighting.

Conclusion:

While choosing a new crossover SUV can be an overwhelming decision, we hope that seeing the Renegade and Trax side-by-side has helped narrow down your decision. The 2021 Jeep Renegade is the better choice with more standard features, more capability, and available off-road prowess with the Trailhawk.
