2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee vs Ford Edge

SUVs are the most popular vehicles in America, and because of this, there are several models to choose from. This is where things can get complicated, as it can be challenging to find which one is best for you and your family. That is where we here at Flagler Chrysler Dodge Jeep come in! Two of the best SUVs out there are the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Ford Edge! Both of these SUVs come with spectacular engine options, tons of advanced tech, and solid ride quality. While we think that either one of these SUVs would make a fine addition to your driveway, we think that there is one that has a distinct advantage over the other. Continue reading down below to see which one comes out on top!

Grand Cherokee Engine Options

There are three powerful engines available for the 2022 Grand Cherokee, and each one will give you a tremendous amount of power and capability. Standard is a 3.6-liter V6 that delivers 293 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Those who are looking for a little more power will find a lot to love about the 5.7-liter V8, which pups out a massive 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. You can get this engine on the Trailhawk, Overland, and Summit trims. The last engine is a remarkable plug-in hybrid known as the 4xe, which uses a base turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and adds two electric motors and a battery pack to generate a spectacular 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. Each of these engines pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission which provides you with one of the smoothest rides around. Those who have a V6 engine will get rear-wheel-drive standard with the option for four-wheel-drive. All other engines come standard with four-wheel-drive.

Edge Engine Options

While the Ford Edge tries to keep up, it can't compete with what the Grand Cherokee has in terms of power! The base engine for the Edge is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that gets you a passable 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque and pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Those looking for more power will have to upgrade to the ST trim, which has a turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 that gets you 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. This engine pairs with a seven-speed automatic transmission. Both of these engines come with an all-wheel-drive system which will give you some added traction. Unlike the Grand Cherokee, there is no hybrid option for the Ford Edge, which is a little disappointing.

Features for the Grand Cherokee

In addition to being one of the most powerful SUVs on the planet, the Grand Cherokee is also well-equipped with tons of tech, luxury, and performance items. The first available trim is the Laredo which comes with17-inch wheels, LED headlights, heated mirrors, roof rails, keyless entry and ignition, dual-zone climate control, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You also get plenty of safety features to keep you and your family safe, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and forward collision mitigation. Several option packages are available for the Laredo, including the Lux Tech Group, which has automatic wipers, a remote start, a power liftgate, heated rear seats, and a wireless charging pad. Moving up to the Limited trim gets you more advanced items such as LED foglights, driver's seat memory settings, leather upholstery, and heated rear seats. Going off-roading? The Trailhawk trim delivers all-terrain tires, adaptive air suspension, hill ascent and descent control, front tow hooks, and an electronic disconnecting stabilizer bar. Higher trims double down on more luxury items such as upgraded leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, ambient cabin lighting, a hands-free liftgate, front cross-traffic alert, and four-zone automatic climate control.

Features for the Ford Edge

Five trims are available for the Edge, and some interesting features are available! First up is the base trim, which has 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry, push-button start, and a 12-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is also a Black Appearance Package with 19-inch gloss black wheels and black badges. Up next is the SE, which adds to the base trim with simulated leather upholstery, heated front seats, and Ford's SecuriCode entry keypad. FOr more sporty items, check out the ST-Line, which comes standard with black exterior trim with lower and front and rear fascias, 20-inch gloss black wheels, red accent exterior stitching, and ActiveX faux leather seats. If you're looking for more luxury items, you will need to check out the Titanium or ST trim, as they have features like a hands-free liftgate, rain-sensing windshield wipers, remote engine start, leather upholstery, and a sport suspension. We like many of these features, but the Grand Cherokee is better equipped.
